Meetings and Events
2005

Tuesday, December 6, 2005
Mike to demonstrate the editing of two sound files using the program Audacity. One file has two very unequal stereo channels, the other contains unwanted noise.

Paul will continue with webwork, possibly getting into how to get a server to carry your site. This will depend on whether we have a connection to the internet.

Tuesday, November 1, 2005
New direction today. Paul has introduced web site creation. This capability continues to become more and more available to comuter users. It was pointed out, for example, that if you can create a document with MSWord, you can create a web page, without having to know anything about HTML coding, one needs simply convert, and then send the page to the proper website. Also, some servers, such as Yahoo, support FREE website creation and display.

This subject will be discussed at several meetings, well into next year, since there are so much to cover. A portion of each meeting willbe used for this purpose. As well, Q and A on any subject will be encouraged during these same meetings.

Digital Imaging SIG meeting.
Mike will be demonstrating how to set f-stops, speed etc. so that you can control your image, rather than letting the camera do it. Get the picture YOU want! (Information)

Q and A all evening. Bring your problems on any computer topic, cameras, connections, internet,

cables, operating systems

     How about:
  • properties of the various ports:  serial, parallel, USB, firewire
  • getting all your peripherals to work "together" (printer, scanner, speakers, zip drives internal and external drives, USB drives)
  • memory issues:  cache memory, disk and virtual memory
  • how to back up valuable information
  • how to protect what you have
  • possibilities are endless
You know that the people at the front of the room do not have all the answers.  Please contribute to solutions and explanations as well as the questions.  We all have both Q's and A's.
